The games
The original gameboy games, red, blue and yellow took the world by storm. And the sequels were just as successful. From Bulbasaur to Mew, Chikorita to Celebi and Treecko to Deoxys, everybody is able to find one that they can call their favourite.

Ruby and Sapphire
The latest versions of everyone's favourite gameboy series, were no let down. Ruby and Sapphire introduced yet another set of new pokemon to collect. And a hoard of new legendaries including, Latias and Latios and the mighty Rayquaza. The region has changed too. The new one is called Hoenn. There are 8 new gym leaders to challenge, all with new pokemon and strategies. And the starters have changed yet again. The new ones are Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip. All great pokemon! These versions are for the gameboy advance and the graphics have definitely improved. You can see your reflection in the water and there are even different weather conditions. A great game for all pokemon fans!
There are going to be 2 new games in the future that connect with Ruby and Sapphire. They are at the moment being called Fire red and Leaf green, but whether these will be changed, has yet to be announced.

Pokemon Red Blue and Yellow
In the red, blue and yellow versions of pokemon, you play as a young boy on a quest to become the greatest pokemon trainer of all time. To do that, you must travel the world, finding and catching all 150 pokemon. Training and raising them will make some of them change into even more powerful pokemon. If you have a game link cable (sold separately) then you can link up and trade pokemon with your friends. Trade pokemon with someone who has a different version to get exclusive pokemon that are only in one version. The yellow version is the most unique of the 3, as instead of choosing between Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, everyone starts with Pikachu as their first pokemon. Pikachu however is a very different to usual pokemon and refuses to stay inside it's pokeball. Instead it follows you around onscreen. Check Pikachu's mood regularly to see how it feels about you.
Pokemon Gold Silver and Crystal
These games were the second set of games to be released. The theme of catching and training pokemon is the same, however it is now set in a new area called johto. And there are now 100 new pokemon to catch, as well as the original 151. The starter pokemon have changed too. You now choose between Chikorita, Totodile and Cyndaquil to begin with. There are also new features, like the day and night factor. Some pokemon only come out during the day and others at night. Some are even harder to find because they only come out at a certain time. These pokemon are known as "in season" pokemon. You will be given a pokegear which is a new device, that one of it's features is storing phone numbers. There are various trainers you will meet who will exchange phone numbers with you, so you can re-battle them later, or they will share information with you. The Crystal version differs from the Gold and Silver versions, in that the pokemon are now animated when you run into them in the wild or battle someone else's. Legendary Suicune also plays a starring role in this exciting version.
